Stuff on the internets...
Local Music Shops
- Meadowood Music, Blandon, PA - They only deal with stringed instruments. If you are looking for G&L Guitars (Leo Fender's guitars...) or Reverend Guitars, this is your place. Guitar repair turn-around is pretty fast and resonably priced.
- West Chester Music, West Chester, PA - Lots of good stuff, in particular you can get Orange amps and Mesa Boogies here.
- George's Music, Spring City, PA - is within 15minutes from here.

Handy Softwares, Some Music-Related in Nature...
- foobar 2000 - Fantastic media player. I switched to this from winamp and just love it. It's very no-nonsense with tons of handy stuff built-in. There are also plug-ins so you can play Apple lossless files (AAC) and such..
- Beyond Compare - It's a "diff" tool. Figure out what's different between directories/folders and files. For a studio, this is one of the best ways to do back-ups that you need to eyeball what files and why are getting updated, before overwriting things that shouldn't!
The Demoscene and tracker-based music - stuff most people never will know about...
- renoise - a modern tracker that's just phenominal. it can integrate with DAWs via ReWire and can use VSTs! we dreamt of this in the 90s...
- "XRNS-PHP is a collection of command-line scripts for Renoise. http://renoise.com is a contemporary music composition tool with XML-based file formats; making it possible to develop PHP scripts for various areas of interest." ... in particular, you can use this to export to midi!!!
- scene.org - a hub for something called the Demoscene, which so much neat stuff has come out of.
- Five Musicians - "cream of the crop" in demoscene music.
- MOD Archive - well, not just .MODs, .XMs, .S3Ms, etc...
- wikipeida article on module files - things have evolved from this, but it's such sweet stuff.
